Macro-/micro-coupling regulation of nanoporous metals via vapor phase alloying-dealloying

Nanoporous metals with bicontinuous ligament-channel structure are of great importance in catalysis, electro-catalysis, actuation and energy storage conversion. However, the intrinsic brittleness nanoporous has always been “Achilles heel” that impedes their practical applications. Utilizing vapor pressure difference metals, herein we propose a flexible general phase alloying (VPA)-dealloying strategy to fabricate layers supported on substrates same element. By adjusting VPA time temperature, thickness microstructure control over can be realized by combining diverse dealloying methods. Besides, various including Ag, Au, Cu, Co Ni different macro sizes shapes fabricated into structures through this method. More importantly, greatly improved tensile ductility owing layer-substrate well enhanced catalytic performance for hydrogen evolution reaction as-fabricated signify potentials VPA-dealloying
